My nick name for awhile was "Hong Kong Fawne" because of this t-shirt I wore all the time. I had mad crushes on guys I could never get and I was totally shy, quiet, and weird. I had song lyrics written on my backpack. Frisky the cat wasn't all mine, he was the family cat.

The holidays were great for me and my family. I haven't had much time to update, sorry about that. But I am reading, just not commenting as much as I should. Tomorrow I'm going to Tennessee to visit my mom and sister. Mazzy's excited and can't wait. I hope everyone's good and healthy and ready for the new year. I know I am! Yay! |

5 Questions and 10 Things I Love That Start with "G" from whatsherdeal 1. I know you mentioned that you entertained the thought of having another child; do you still have those feelings? if so, do you think mazzy would be into having a brother or sister? Hah, just last week I thought about having another. I know it would not be a good idea and would throw my world off balance. We don't have the $$ or the space for another and I really really like sleeping through the night. The baby fever comes and goes and I have to keep it in check. I can't have another just because babies are cute and being pregnant was fun. I'll just have to hang out with the new baby neice coming in December.
2. at what age did you realize that you were pretty talented in drawing/making art? & don't say you're not talented cos you are! i have 4 pieces of your art in my room to prove it! I was really young, around kindergarten, I think. I would draw to make myself feel better when I was sad. I would make things when I was bored. I didn't think about making it a career until eleventh grade or so. I wanted to go to art school and become world famous but now I'm comfortable with being well-known here in Thomaston and staying away from expensive art schools. But if I did hit the lotto or something I'd totally go to art school.
3. how tall are you? what color eyes do you have? About 5' 5" and I have brown eyes.
4. who is your favorite celebrity couple? if you don't have one; what celebrity couple are you sick of? I don't have a favorite or un-favorite couple...but I do love me some celeb gossip! I can waste so much time reading through ohnotheydidnt so I try to stay away from it. Well, I just thought of it but I'm so tired of that High School Musical couple. The girl is sooooo pretty but the guy is ehhh, a little too pretty, like he spends too much time on his hair and tanning.
5. why is GA so crafty? they always seem to be hosting craft fests, zine fests, etc. this makes me jealous. It seems that it just got crafty a few years ago. Or maybe I just started paying attention. Atlanta, Athens, and Savannah are the 3 big cities full of opportunities and art schools, so there's plenty of artsy folks around. You'll have to visit one day!
The Letter G - Going on dates with the hubs - Getting mail - Grocery shopping (Yeah, I do like it!) - Going on airplane trips. - Gossip, The (Yay, Beth Ditto!) - Goodreads.com - Giving/Getting kisses to/from Mazzy - Good movies - Great artwork - Good night's sleep
(That was hard!) & I know I'm supposed to ask other folks questions but I don't think I have time right now. :( But maybe in an entry real soon! |

Roger Waters @ Philips Arena in ATL, List Form - Daniel and I headed to ATL a little later than we should've. We stopped in Griffin to eat a quick dinner at Arby's. We arrive in ATl a little before 8 p.m. I was worried because the tickets say 8 PM SHARP & I didn't want to miss anything. We drive around & get to the huge venue and struggle to find parking. Daniel says, "Damn, I would pay 20 bucks to park right now." Then we see parking on the corner for 20 bucks. We decide to pull in. It was valet parking so we just hopped out and took off to the Arena. - We didn't miss anything & find our FABULOUS seats on the floor. Mom-in-Law's boss is sitting next to us (that's who she bought the tix from) and he turns out to be a bit of a douchebag and a drunk. He acted like we had no clue who Pink Floyd was and insisted "Comfortably Numb" & "Hey You" were on Dark Side of the Moon. - It was a completely amazing show. I can't say enough about it. Roger played "Wish You Were Here" early in the evening & I ended up crying my eyes out. I called Amber & left a voicemail message. I hope she could hear it. I just held the phone up in the air for a few moments. - There was an intermission then he came back on stage to play ALL of Dark Side of the Moon. GAWD. So awesome. - The guys to our left lit a joint and I swear everyone within a 10 foot radius turned around and asked for it. We were offered the joint at least 5 times but declined. - I didn't take in my camera for fear of it getting taken away from me. Well, thanks to the wonders of the internets I didn't have to worry about not getting pictures. Everyone else took pictures and video. Look on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pickey/sets/72157600250219696/ And YouTube: http://youtube.com/results?search_query=roger+waters+atlanta (I think that dude was behind us, I remember turning around once and seeing a guy w/ a video camera. I wonder how he got it in?) - Again, such an amazing experience & I'm so glad we got to go. We stop by QuickTrip in Jonesboro for snacks and make our way back home. |

Last night Sara and I drove to the ATL to attend the first Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School at the Sutra Lounge. I'm so glad we went because we had tons of fun!
It only took a little over an hour to get there. Of course I got lost because that's just ATL tradition. But we finally found the place and found our seats in the VIP section. The model & host was so great. Sara and I had two drinks each, I don't think I was charged for all of them because the tab was lower than I expected. We talked to folks and "networked" and saw boobies (with pasties on)! We hope to do this again & more often.
Oh Oh! Sara and I both won prizes. Sara won an Anais Nin book and I won the Dr. Sketchy's Official Rainy Day coloring book.
ETA: Take a gander at the photos in the LJ community.
Tonight: Roger Frickin' Waters @ Philips Arena. ATL, I'll see you in a few! |

| [ | Listening to |
| | Tracy Chapman | ] | Today at work my yoga teacher came in and I was delighted! There hasn't been a class since before Thanksgiving since everyone was so busy with the holidays and I guess, folks are still busy. I've missed my yoga class. :( Anyway, I told her about Mazzy being diagnosed with allergies and she suggested a dairy-free, gluten-free diet. Any advice for that?
I'm lucky enough to live in a small town with a health food store. I'm going to stop by there one day. I think we eat fairly healthy but there's room for improvement...I'm wondering if Mazzy's attitude will change with the diet? I just hate having to give her medicine everyday: nose spray in the morning and a pill at night. + it costs mucho $$ for prescriptions.
Wondering. Wondering. |

"I open the gallery door, walk in with that sinking feeling I always have in galleries. It's the carpets that do it to me, the hush, the sanctimoniousness of it all: galleries are too much like churches, there's too much reverence, you feel there should be some genuflecting going on. Also I don't like it that this is where paintings end up, on the neutral-toned walls with the track lighting, sterilized, rendered safe and acceptable. It's as if somebody's been around spraying the paintings with air freshener, to kill the smell. The smell of blood. The gallery is not totally sterilized, there are touches of cutting edge: a heating pipe shows, one wall is black. I don't give a glance to what's still on the walls, I hate those neo-expressionist dirty greens and putrid oranges, post this, post that. Everything is post these dads, as if we're all just a footnote to something earlier that was real enough to have a name of its own. ... If I cut off my ear, would the market value go up? Better still, stick my head in the oven, blow out my brains. What art collectors like to buy, among other things, is a little vicarious craziness."

A few minutes after I put Maz to bed she calls out for me. She says she wants to sleep in the bed with me and she was afraid.
"Afraid of what?" I ask.
"Monsters," she says while hugging on Slumbers, her teddy bear.
I tell her there's no such things as monsters and Slumbers will protect her.
"But Slumbers is a toy," she says.
-
So she's sleeping with me tonight. That last response made me giggle and say "awwww". She's so dang smart.
So much to update. Maybe tomorrow? |

More painting today and the guys put lots of insulation in the attic. We've dropped so much money lately.
Mazzy went home with my stepmom so she'll be out of the way while we move tomorrow.
Oh and this morning, after waking up with hardly a voice, I decided it was time to go to the doctor. I've been sick since December 3rd. I have strep throat and I feel bad for all the people that have been exposed because of me. (Sorry Amber!) I should've went to the doctor awhile ago but I thought it was just a cold and I was just going to ride it out. But I was wrong and I'm sorry.
Strep throat and moving. Yay. |
